Another Water Management Is Possible Campaign held the 2nd preparatory meeting in Taxim Hill Hotel, towards the Alternative Water Forum which will be on 20-22 March in Istanbul. There were activists and representatives of social movements from Turkey, Mexico, Germany, Austria and Catalonia in the preparatory meeting on 17th of January.

In the first part, there were presentations about the World Water Forum and the water issues in Turkey. The presentations  focused especially on dam politcs and the attempts of Turkish Government by using the official forum as an opportunity.

The second part of the meeting was facilitated by Goksen Sahin and Umit Sahin and Serkan Atak presented the activities and the aims of the campaign and Atilla Aydemir presented the program proposals. There was a general discussion after the presentations and Claudia Campera who was the organizer of the Alternative Water Forum which was held in Mexico in 2006, made a contibution about thier experiences.

The decisions and the important points of the meeting are below:

-    There are 50 activity proposals submitted until now for the Alternative Water Forum.
-    The proposals are activities like seminars, workshops and cultural events and the similar seminar and workshop proposals will be merged. In order to work on this, we set up an open program group. This group will finalize its work until mid February and set up the program by the end of the month.
-    Because of some organizations from abroad requested additional time to submit their proposals, we decided to have them until the end of Belem World Social Forum which will be on 27th January-1st February. Our colleagues in Belem will collect the proposals and deliver them to the program group.
-    We will prepare a press kit which is detailed and clear. We set up a working group for this work.
-    We will use visual materials and cartoons in a visible way.
-    We will searh for a place for organizing press conferences during the alternative forum. We set up a group to work on logistics and finances.
-    There is a proposal to declare the second day of the alternative forum (21st March) as a day for rivers against dams. We will give visibility to the activities about rivers in this day.
-    There is a proposal to have a final declaration in the end of the forum. We will set up a working group for this in the upcoming period.
-    Press working group will also work for pruducing visual and audio materials.

Another Water Management Is Possible Camapign will organize an assembly in the en of February and conlude its work for Alternative Water Forum.
